Worst. Hike. Ever.

To celebrate Thomas Jefferson's Declaration of Independence on this scorching hot day, the VPo man and I decided on hiking to a swimming hole in Minnewaska. Much of it was a bushwack as we got lost big time.

It started out Ok despite my legs being destroyed from running and playing soccer the previous day. I was moving extremely slow. But, we made it to the swimming hole without any problems. We took a brief swim in the ice cold refreshing water. Surprisingly, we actually ran into someone. He kept on making these ridiculous remarks. He clearly was pissed that we were out at the same time as he was.

After the swim, we planned on finishing the loop where we'd end up at another swim hole called "the end of the world." This never happened as we lost the herd path to it. We bushwacked for a bit before turning around. This is where it got ugly. We lost the trail and it was a pure bushwack through the thickest vegetation I've been through. Every step was painful. The saying, "it's never as bad as it seems" did not apply here. It WAS as bad as it seemed. Fortunately, the VPo man's GPS was off the mark. We followed it out and it led us close to the swimming hole which was a lot closer to the care than we would have been if the GPS had been correct. So, maybe it wasn't as bad as it seemed.
