Overlook Winter Full Moon

Moon over the Hudson

Ok, so not technically a full moon, but close at 96%.  Have I  mentioned how awe inspiring a rising full moon appears?  One of life's great pleasures.  Or how pleasant a walk it is through the woods under a full moon?  It's not unlike being in your own black and white film.

Although arriving too late to capture the moon rising, I did bring the tripod up to take some shots of the moon in all its glory.  From my vantage point you could see the moon's light glow across the Hudson Valley.  The moon's reflection on the Hudson could be made out.  What a shame we get nights like this so infrequently.

  1. Remember that moonrise when you me and the MC hiked up Whit and Cornell? That one was incredible because for various minutes you could only see a glow above the mountains before the moon itself appeared. I loved it how the moon can look so big and so orange when rising. i saw some incredible moon rises in Rockland County just driving in my car.

  2. That was probably the best moonrise I've experienced, though it was through the trees.
