Baxster State Park Mushrooms
While hiking in Baxster, I took many fotos of mushrooms I found along the way. I don't know why. Maybe it's for my new found fondness of mushrooms (although I have no idea whether any of these are edible). Maybe it's because I had nothing better to do. I took enough that I thought I'd give them their own post. So here's to mushrooms!!!

Cool!!! I can't tell the edible ones from the poisonous ones either. The ones I see here are superior to those in the HV. They're so big. And I'm beginning to see more and more. It's the right time of year I guess.
ReplyDeleteThe colors are better too. Love the Thoreau quote.
ReplyDeleteLove mushroom pictures. But don't be so quick to judge unfavorably the HV mushroom scene. There are many excellent mushrooms and lichens in the HV -- I have the pics to prove it. However, not every year produces a great mushroom spawn in the HV; it depends on the weather that year. The MC would have loved seeing all these mushrooms. He knows his fungus well.
ReplyDeleteLast year, remember those big ass mushrooms we spotted at Tivoli Bays? Those were pretty kick ass. But I would have to say this particular hike brought more different types of mushrooms to my attention than I can ever recall.
ReplyDeleteYes. If I recall they were red? The ones you saw in Maine are definetely more varied - color, size, shape etc. Nice stuff!!!
