Johnny Rocket came up with the idea to go to Monhegan Island.  Many artists have found this destination for inspiration.  It's easy to understand why.

We left for Monhegan from New Harbour, ME.  The harbor here had many old fishing boats.  We could just make out our destination on the horizon.  The hour long ride was incredibly enjoyable.  The cool ocean breeze set my mind at ease.  We had numerous dolphin sightings and a couple of seal sightings.  Upon arriving Monhegan Island, I immediately fell in love with the setting and the picturesque village that sits above the harbor.

On the way back to the mainland, the ferry took us on a seal watch.  There are numerous small, rocky islands off the coast of Monhegan.  It was by one of these where we caught some glimpses of a couple of seals taking a rest.  After that, we got a chance to view a couple seals in the water looking for food.  This was very fun to watch.

  1. Great pictures. What's with this rocket guy? Why doesn't he smile? He looks hurt and disgusted in the pictures. Maybe his sphincter is tight with tension, and he's not able to breathe deeply. I like his funky, white insect eyes sunglases, and his red attire. It all would look even better if he just smiled.
