Awosting Falls

The trail to Jenny Lane

The VPo Man and I headed out on this overcast day for a stroll along the Peters Kill.  We first came upon Awosting Falls.  We watched a few guys throwing rocks into the water.  Looking down from the top, it's hard to believe it's only 60 feet.

We then made our way down the Peters Kill and near the top of Sheldon Falls where there is a lot of blow down from the storms last year.  This is a great walk down a natural flight of stairs.  Very large steps, but nonetheless, it's a great walk down.

We finally negotiated our way to the base of Sheldon Falls where the ruins of a power plant remain.  This would be the first time I got an unobstructed view of Sheldon Falls.  The other times the Peters Kill was flowing too fiercely to cross into the middle.  On the way back the VPo Man and I admired the tiny waterfalls.

  1. The falls were definetely flowing better on 7/29. Great that you made it to the other side though!
