Escarpment Training Run
A couple things I learned from this: (1) the last 4 miles of the Escarpment are TOUGH and (2) I'm slow. Okay, I mostly knew both before today, but I deluded myself into believing otherwise.
I started this near Roundtop. My main goal would be to run up Stoppel "fresh". After walking to the col, I made my way up Stoppel. It took 35 minutes to reach the summit. I continued in the rain to North Lake which took another hour and four minutes. Last year I finished this section in an hour and ten minutes. I figured I'd be able to finish this in under one hour relatively fresh. Oh, well. Still it was a great day to be out. Low humidity and a nice cool rain. There were a few others out on training runs.
