Baha'i Temple Chicago

While visiting Chicago, my brother told me to check out the Baha'i Temple.  I had no idea what it was.  I did a little research and it happened to be near the most northern L Train station.  It's a done deal, I'd check it out.

I had no idea would be learning about a new religion.  With only 5 million members worldwide it's quite small but it has members in around 200 countries.  The Baha'i faith accepts the prophets of the other major religions as bringing one closer to God.  The Baha'i faith was founded by a persian Baha' u' llah.  He taught three main principles: (1) that there is only one true God; (2) all religions come from the same spiritual source; (3) all humans have been created equal.

There are about 150,000 who practice Baha'i in the U.S. and the temple in Chicago is considered the holiest of all.  The son of Baha' u' llah dedicated the temple in 1912.  There are only 8 temples in the world.

I saw this in Minnesota

  1. Looks like an interesting structure. When I was in Chile, I read news that a Bahai temple was planned to be built in the foothills of the Andes close to Santiago. After reading your post, I checked to see if the temple had been built. Turns out construction started last year and is still in progress. You should check it out online. Crazy architecture.
