Oak Hill


This little gem of a hill with a fire tower is located just north of Concord.  If the cabin was open, it would provide one of the most unique views of a U.S. Capital.  Some day I'll come back when it's open.  Until then, these fotos will have to suffice.

The trail to Oak Hill is located about a mile from the village of Loudon.  A 1.5 mile hike on a gently ascending maintenance road leads to the tower.  On the way up, I watched a woodpecker do his thing.

  1. Ok, that looks like a hike that I could still do.

    You've been lucky with getting views of the pileated woodpecker. That is the biggest woodpecker in North America.
