I came across this place accidentally a couple months ago when I delivered phone books in the area. With just over 2 miles of trails, I thought it'd be worth checking out.
The walk passed through some lovely forest, but it did not spend much time at the bottom of the ravine. The trail crossed the creek only once. Still, since I live so close, this will be a great place to walk and let the mind wander.

On the way out I spotted a Battle of Clarksville historical marker. I assumed this to be a Revolutionary War battle. Instead it was a battle from the Anti-Rent War of 1839-1846. I had no idea there was such a war. Apparently much of the land in the Hudson Valley happened to be in the hands of the few. One landowner had over 60,000 tenants. I also learned that the Battle of Clarksville was not much of a battle. The sheriff and his men were outnumbered, so they turned around. Interesting stuff!!!
interesting. thanks for including the link about the anti-rent war, which i never heard of before.
