We encountered some ice, but not as much as I thought we would

We live in the internet age.  A few years ago I heard about Lost City.  I tried to find info on the net and their was not much to be found.  Locals kept Lost City out of the guidebooks and the NYNJ Trail Conference kept Lost City off the maps.  This changed recently and Lost City is no longer lost.

Today I went with the Hudson Valley Hikers Meetup Group.  My friends Ross and Maggie were also among them.  Ross had been through Lost City quite a few years back.  The group was quite large with approximately 30 people.  One of the most challenging things would be constantly waiting to make it through the crevasses.  If it were Ross, Maggie and I, we probably could have done double in a fraction of the time.  But this is to be expected and it happened to be a great group.

Lost City is a fairly easy place to explore.  It's about a mile walk in to the Crevasses.  Lost City is basically a long ridge of cliffs with large mounds of rocks.  When you get to those cliffs, just dive in and explore.  The group was a mix of beginners, intermediate scramblers (which is what I'd classify us) and the advanced.  Many of the routes had options for everyone.  Looking around, one could spend days exploring the different routes.

  1. Can you tell me which access trail you took- the one from Kings Lane or the one off of High Peters Kill?
