Severance Hill

Porcupine at tunnel of northway
Severance Hill rises to the west of Schroon Lake.  I have passed here many times along the Northway to the high peaks always wondering what kind of hiking is available here.  Today I would get a little taste.

The trailhead is located just off Route 9 near exit 28.  It's a relatively steep trail on easy terrain (not too rocky) in about a mile.  So it's quite easy for someone in decent shape.  I reached the summit in a little under a half hour.  The summit provides great views of Schroon Lake.
Northern portion of Schroon Lake

Almost the entire lake is visible
