Huntersfield is the highest point in Schoharie County. The entire hike is within Green County. The summit provides the border for the two counties.
It made for an interesting walk. The western Catskills provide some unique vantage points. I hoped to get some views of Bearpen and Vly from here, but the views from the summit were quite disappointing. Through the trees I could make out both Windham's and Hunter's ski slopes. They still had snow, but I wonder if they were still open. From the lean-to, which is just off the summit, I could see Westskill.
Not surprisingly, there was still plenty of snow here. I wish I had brought my snowshoes since I find postholeing to be incredibly annoying. Still there was plenty of beauty around to keep the mind occupied on the surrounding.
Great canopy shot of the pines. The leaves you were seeing in that one photo were last years leaves. Young beech trees have the habit of retaining the previous year's dried, dead leaves.
