Bristlecone Trail Bryce Canyon

Near Rainbow Point

Through a nice little forest

I love Thoreau

Bristlecone trees

Outstanding views

More great colors

At one of the highest points in Bryce

This was just a magnificent trail in under 2 miles.  An easy walk with very little elevation gain, it takes you through some lovely forest and some crazy looking trees with killer views to boot.  I recommended this walk to many I ran into.  Even those that I know don't stray very far from their cars.

The trail starts at Rainbow Point, the last stop on the scenic drive and the highest point in the park at over 9,000 feet.  It crosses through some lovely forest and winds its way by some ledges that offer views that don't seem to end.  One of the problems I had was not knowing exactly what I was looking at.  But from here I was unmistakably looking towards Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

  1. Outstanding work with the pics. I like number 8 the best. I also love the quote from Thoreau. I've planned on taking some American Literature to complement my History major in college.

  2. I love the pic of the carcases of the still standing dead trees again the sky. Poetry in itself. Are those trees all bristlecone pines?
