Located on Navajo land, Antelope Canyon is the most visited and photographed slot canyon in the southwest. Apparently herds of antelopes used to live in the canyon. Those days are over. Herds of tourists live there now.
Antelope Canyon is accessed only with a guide. We had Dale who happened to be a very good one. The tour started with a nice, bumpy, dusty ride to the entrance. Surprisingly (or maybe not), I was the only American (excluding Dale of course) on the tour. I went with Alicia and Cristina from France, whom I met the previous night at the campground in Page. I met more people from France on this tour than Americans.
Although I dreamed of having the canyon to myself, the walk through the canyon was an absolutely amazing experience. Dale who also leads photography tours through here, was incredibly helpful in showing us the spots to take some great fotos. He also cleared the area of people when he could. It's definitely a place that can be explored further. The amazing color and sunbeams that shined through will never get boring.
God damn, that's a wondrous place. Primo photos, CPo. How smooth was the rock?
