Emerald Pools, Zion National Park

Virgin River

I never tired of seeing these lizards

Waterfall.  Nothing like the ones in the HV

A trickle, but still a nice spot

My first hike in Zion would be somewhat of a let down.  Unlike Bryce or Kodachrome's spectacular scenery, the Emerald Pools trail offered a nice walk through some forest and a couple trickling waterfalls.  Good stuff, but the Hudson Valley offers this and much more in my opinion.  Still, it was nice to see some greenery, despite its location being so dry.

  1. Even though the waterfalls out there are not as impressive as the ones here, I bet it was a welcome sight for you. Did you expect to see them?

  2. I knew there'd be waterfalls. I figured they'd be running a bit more. Still it was a pleasant sight and Zion is tropical compared to the other spots I'd been.

  3. Are you allowed to do any off trail hiking there? What's this also a guide only place?
